A Message from Delhi Center CEO Armando de la Libertad
Today we announce the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Delhi Center community.
In the three years since I joined Delhi Center as your CEO, our team led a tremendous expansion in our services and impact. We’ve established 45 distinct program offerings in health, education and financial stability, which serve 42,000 members of our community each year. We’ve double the size of our budget to $1.2 million – including establishing a social enterprise, OC Events Central, which generates annual revenue of $500,000. And we’ve doubled the size of our board of directors which is now governed by 10 seasoned and experienced leaders of our community to ensure further growth.
I’m particularly proud of our new and expanded programs, which include SparkPoint OC, providing financial coaching to 100 clients; CBI, a partnership with local residents defining 12 shared community priorities; on-site Affordable Care Act enrollment services; a three-year renewal of onsite Head Start services; our non-partisan voter engagement campaign, which generated 50,000 contacts; our STEM-based “Mathletics” after-school program; and the launch of our high-tech, multi-agency Virtual Counselor Network.
As you can see, this momentum is remarkable and a testament to the commitment and talent of Delhi’s Board of Directors and staff. And that’s why I have total confidence in Delhi’s continued growth, even as I share the news that I am moving on from Delhi Center to take on a new challenge.
Although I am beginning a new post this week, the board and I are committed to a seamless transition and plan for the progress and success of the last three years to continue. Our entire board, under the leadership of President Cristina Arellano-Dueñas, has detailed plans to work closely with staff leadership to ensure a successful transition.
Exciting projects are ahead, including our Courtyard Café workforce development program; eLounge digital information access hub, “Green Corner” recycling program, and hopefully – someday – on-site solar power generation. Our ambitious vision also includes a neighborhood-owned corner market offering fresh, healthy food for our residents. These are just a few examples of how much momentum will continue to build an even more vibrant community during the months and years ahead.
Thank you to our community for supporting our efforts, to the board for giving me the opportunity to serve, and to our team for your tremendous commitment to Delhi Center. I look forward to continuing my support of this center in new ways.
