The history of Delhi community can be traced back to the 1860’s when two McFadden brothers, originally from Delhi, New York purchased land and name their land Delhi. At that time the City of Santa Ana was still being formed. However, California had been home to Mexicans as this area was once part of Mexico.

In 1969, the Delhi Center was incorporated as a non profit organization by its local residents, church, city officials and the Junior League of Orange County. The organization was established as a referral source for the largely Mexican and Mexican American farmworker community that resided in Santa Ana. Its humble beginnings were efforts of the local community and for more than 25 years the organization was located within two marine barracks.

Over the years, the organization continued its work during the years of amnesty in the late 80’s through 90’s. In the year 2001, the center achieved a historical milestone, by constructing the largest community center of its kind in Santa Ana. Rallying the support of local legislative officials, community residents and public and private sector sponsors, Delhi Center opened its doors to its beautiful new facility.

Today, the Delhi Center’s programs are organized within four initiatives: Health, Education, Economic Development and Cultural Arts. Currently the centers welcomes over 20,000 individuals through its doors for various programs, services, trainings and events. Its history is testament to the hard work ethic of the community it has remained committed to, and shares a proud legacy with all.
